Music Masters History

1998 Music Masters Established

1998 Music Masters Established

Christine held a permanent, full-time position as Music Teacher at Nudgee College for 6 years. While she loved teaching within a school, she was always restricted to teaching music to younger children after school.

When the opportunity arose to take time off from her school teaching role, Christine promptly established her own music school that was dedicated to teaching music to young children and babies.

Classes were held in the front room of her Kedron home and began with only two class groups. The classes grew very quickly and soon it became clear that Music Masters had enough enrolments to continue as a full time Enterprise.

1999 Music Masters Bulimba Venue Opened

One day Christine noticed that some parents were travelling enormous distances to attend the Music Masters classes. These families were spending more time in the car than they were at the music lesson!! She ventured to the other side of town to find a second music venue. Discovering Oxford Street Bulimba was perfect and a second Music school was opened.

2000 Staff joined Music Masters

The birth of her first child in 2000, forced Christine to think about bringing on staff to teach at Music Masters. Even though the students at the music school were of a young age, Christine knew how important it was to have qualified teachers. Nicole Amies was the first of many staff members who had completed her BMUS from the QLD Conservatorium of Music majoring in harp. She was furthering her studies to become a secondary school music teacher so was ideally suited to teach at Music Masters.

2004 Music Masters Classes Travel to the Outback

Christine was asked if she would consider holding music classes for children in the outback. Of course the reply was yes and after a day long trip on a small plane, she spent a week teaching music to the children from Birdsville and Beadourie in outback QLD.

2005 Music Masters produced the DVD and CD "Music Makes Me Move"

By this time, Christine had two young children and realised that toddlers loved to watch the same DVD over and over. While there were many music DVDs for children available, there seemed to be none that actually taught the fundamentals of music. Having seen first hand how very young children were able to experience and enjoy music, Christine began writing and recording songs specifically for this age group. She employed a film maker and produced "Music Makes Me Move".

2006 Music Masters Classes Travel to Tippoburra

The town of Tippoburra is a two hour drive (on an unsealed road) from Broken Hill. Again, Christine was approached to facilitate music classes for the children who attended the local school. At the time, this was the only school in Australia who had enrolments from the town and enrolments from stations who would attend role call via school of the air each day.

Christine entertained children who visited Australia Zoo over the Summer Holidays of 2008/09.

2010 Music Masters Wilston Venue Opened

2010 Music Masters Wilston Venue Opened

The size of the Music School was now at a point where a bigger venue was need. A beautiful, heritage listed school building was sitting dormant on the top of a hill in the next suburb of Gordon Park/Wilston. Christine made the necessary arrangements and now this venue is the Northside's home to Music Masters Classes.

I feel so very grateful to have a teacher that can help me with pieces whenever I need it, helping me with technique (scales, keeping my hand movement very little) and giving me advice...
